Schematic diagram of biomass gasification power plant with co-generationAfter crushing and drying, the biomass material with definite size and suitable humidity is conveyed into gasifier by conveyer. The gasification agent-air- enters into gasifier by blower. The biomass material takes chemical action and converts into biomass charbiomass, gas and tar at the atmosphere of high temperature and rare oxygen. Part of tar will crack into non-condensing gas under high temperature. Part of charbiomass will take reduction action with steam and carbon dioxide and generate hydrogen and carbon monoxide. After chemical action, larger size charbiomass is conveyed to charbiomass production line by conveyer at the bottom of gasifier. Some small size charbiomass, tar steam and gas enter into cyclone. Most charbiomass powder is separated from the mixture in the cyclone and is deliver to charbiomass production line. Then the mixture of tar steam and gas enters into tar cracking equipment. In the equipment, most tar is cracked by catalyst and in converted into non-condensing gas. The gas that contains little tar enters into heat exchanger and transfers its heat to the air-the gasifier agent, which can improve the heat efficiency. The cool gas with little tar enters into water scrubber. There most tar is taken away by water. The trace tar was taken away there. Now the cleaning and cooling of gas is finished. The clean gas is forced by blower and enters into gas tank to decrease the fluctuation of system. The gas follows the pipeline from gas tank to gas engine.2. The preparation of biomass materialBefore utilization, the biomass material should be treated to control the size and humidity. The humidity should be lower than 20% and the size should be not more than 20-80mm. The drying is need when the humidity is higher than 20%. For those irregular and higher humidity materials, the crushing and drying treatment is need.Now there are mature crushing equipments in market. The drying of material involves the supply of heat energy. If using the hot tail gas of engine as heat resource, the moisture of material must be controlled strictly when the material enters into plant to avoid the imbalance of energy. 3. Biomass gasification and gas cleaning(taking an example for 1mw)The biomass gasification adapts 1sets of fixed bed gasifier Φ3.0M which can produce 3000 cubic syngas, which has the advantage of fast start and stop (start the gasifier within 10 minutes and stop it within 10 minutes), broad steady load quickly following the load and easy operation (only need 2~4 workers). The material consumption depends on material. Now the preliminary cleaning method is scrubber. The gas that contains impurity enters into scrubber. The impurity is taken away by washing water. The washing water is purified by water treatment equipment. The treated water recycles in scrubber. The tar and charbiomass dust separated from washing water are sent to biomass charbiomass production line as material. Because of the evaporation of washing water, some fresh water needs to be adding to scrubber. 4. Gas internal combustion engine power setGas internal combustion engine (GICE) adapts the low speed products of Diesel Company of Shandong province, China. After long time operation, this GICE can tolerate more impurity in gas and have the advantage of lower operation cost and malfunction.This project main production is electricity and can also produce charbiomass. The annual operating time is 8000 hours, It consumes about 8000 tons (particles) of raw materials each year. and the long-term continuous operation power is 85-90%% of the basic power.Each plant Gross generation per year: 5000kW × 8000 hours / year × 0.9= 36000000 kWh,it will produce 15%-20% charcoal that means it can produce 6000-8000ton charcoal ,can produce wood vinegar 2000tons ;the Waste heat from 1mw generator is 1250000-1500000kcal.1kg raw material will produce the charcoal 0.015-0.02kg,1kg can produce vinegar around 3-5%1kg woody biomass generate syngas 2.2-2.5m³ , 1kg herbal biomass generate syngas 1-1.5m³Heating value of syngas 1100-1300 kcal/m³. Works programThe equipment area is around 8000m2 ,we advise the the factory site at least require15000-20000m2 ,contains infrastructure construction, work shop building, material building, office, some equipment, noise control, virescence, environment control and monitor.Drying layeron the top of gasifier is the dryer layer and fuel will be delivered to this area from upside. The moisture inside fuel will evaporate by heat exchange with hot air coming from the below three reaction area and temperature of this layer is 100-200°C. Output is the dried material and vapor. Vapor will go outside together with the waste heat from below reaction layers.The dried material will go down to pyrolysis layer.Pyrolysis layerthe dried material go down to pyrolysis layer and heat the biomass material for pyrolysis reaction. Most volatile component will be separated from solid & charcoal left behind when the temperature is 200-500°COutput of pyrolysis layer is carbon, H2, vapor, CO, CO2, CH4, tar and other material.Oxidation layerthe remaining charcoal will make strong reaction with air and release lots of heat. At the same time, the incomplete combustion will produce CO and heat, owing to anaerobic combustion and insufficiency O2. In Oxidation layer, the temperature can reach 800-1000°C, and the reaction equation: C+O2=CO2+H, H=408.8KJIt is combustion reaction in this Oxidation area and release heat energy, that supply energy to reduction area for reduction reaction, material pyrolysis and drying. The hot air (CO & CO2) from Oxidation area will enter into reduction area, and ash will drop into the bottom room.Reduction layerthere is no O2 in reduction area and the CO2 from Oxidation area will have reduction with charcoal and vapor to produce CO and H2. The temperature will drop down to 600-800°C, owing to the reduction is endothermic reaction. The main output of reduction layer is CO, CO2 and H2.Gasification always come with material drying and pyrolysis. In actual operation, there is no clear border during the described four area, that is interpenetrating and interlocking, so the main gas output is CO, CO2, H2, CH4, tar, small amount alkanes, vapor and little dust.

So, there are few engines can be fired by biomass properly. However, our 500 series low speed engines can work at biomass smoothly. THE MAINTENANCE Schedule.
(1). Fill up the engine oil after its first week operation, and then repeat again after one
month operation. Finally, fill up the oil every two months for water pumps and blower
etc. and change the oil every year.
(2). Clean nozzles every month.
(3). Replace the material in tar filter every 3 months without the stopping the system.
(4). Change some rotating parts of the system if necessary, such as that for screw feeder.
etc. Normally, the life time of such parts is 3-5 years.
